Psalm 9:9 KJV

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.”

This is one of my favorite psalms of peace and comfort during those challenging times. It just shows me that God hears me and will always be there for me. Help is on its way.

Psalm 46:1 KJV

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”

Turn to God’s unfailing love during your time of troubles. He is always there to help you!

Psalm 145:14 KJV

“The LORD upholdeth all that fall, And raiseth up all those that be bowed down.”

This is one of my favorite bible verses for comfort in time of loss. It is a comforting psalm to know that God will lift you up when you feel down.

Psalm 119:76-77 KJV

“Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, According to thy word unto thy servant. Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: For thy law is my delight. ”

Psalm 22:24 KJV

“For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Neither hath he hid his face from him; But when he cried unto him, he heard.”

If you have a crushed spirit, just know that God hears you and will never hide from you.

Psalm 94:19 KJV

“In the multitude of my thoughts within me, Thy comforts delight my soul.”

One of the best psalms of comfort and hope! When you focus on Christ, His peace and comfort will slowly fill your soul.

If you are in despair and don’t feel like anything is helping, here are 20 different ways to spend more time with God

Psalm 107:13-15 KJV

“Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, And he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And brake their bands in sunder. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men! ”

This psalm of hope just shows that God will save you in His own time. He will bring you out of the darkness and shadow of death just like He did in times of old. Do not give up; help is coming.

This is one of my favorite psalms and scriptures for anxiety and depression.

Psalm 62:5-8 KJV

“My soul, wait thou only upon God; For my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.”

This is a great psalm of peace and comfort that would make for great affirmations.

Here are some other great biblical affirmations that I use!

Psalm 30:5 KJV

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

One of the psalms for comfort is this one. Be sure to note that when it is said “anger,” back in the day, it didn’t mean the anger we know. A better definition for anger in the bible is strong emotions. That can always mean good!

Weeping and sadness will stay for a bit, but joy, comfort, peace, and hope will always come.

This is a great bible verse about marriage too. Hard times will always end.

Psalm 91:14-15 KJV

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.”

If you are a follower of God, these are the promises He gives you. These will never go away.

Psalm 56:3-4 KJV

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”

Always turn to God and trust in His plan. We may not always like the timing, but we will always get the comfort we need.

Psalm 86:17 KJV

“Shew me a token for good; That they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: Because thou, LORD, hast held me, and comforted me.”

This is a great psalm of comfort in grief for the loss of a loved one. There were times in my life where I did feel as if God was holding me. You can feel that too.

Psalm 91:11 KJV

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.”

This should bring you comfort in knowing that God sends His angels to watch over and comfort you.

Psalm 116:1-8 KJV

“I love the LORD, Because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, And the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yea, our God is merciful. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; For the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, Mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”

Psalm 23:4 KJV

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Another great valley of the shadow of death scripture!

Psalm 34:17-18 KJV

“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, And delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

God is with you always, but He is especially close with those who have a broken heart in times of trouble.

Psalm 27:1 KJV

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 40:1-2 KJV

“I waited patiently for the LORD; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”

God will pull us out of all the hard times, on His own time table.

This is one of the bible verses for pregnancy.

Psalm 55:22 KJV

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

I love this bible verse about comfort so much! You are allowed to give everything to Him, especially your burdens. He will sustain you always, no matter what burdens you are experiencing right now.

Psalm 71:20-21 KJV

“Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, And shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.”

Here are some Psalms for strength and encouragement you might like.

Psalm 91:2-4 KJV

“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

This is a great scripture to turn to when you are in need of some comfort.

Psalm 119:50, 52 KJV

“This is my comfort in my affliction: For thy word hath quickened me. I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; And have comforted myself.”

The Word of God is comfort in itself!

Psalm 120:1 KJV

“In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.”

Another one of the most uplifting psalms in the bible. Read more bible verses for stress.

Psalm 4:1-3 KJV

“Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: The LORD will hear when I call unto him.”

God will always hear you. There is no doubt in that!

Psalm 9:9-10 KJV

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: For thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

Hopefully these psalms for comfort and hope bring you peace and truly do comfort your soul. God is with you and will be there for you.
