We all could use some strength at different times in our lives. Some days are just plain hard.
I’ve found myself just wanting to give up and not move on; life was too hard for me and I just couldn’t do it anymore.
But, I did keep moving forward, because I had Christ on my side.
Psalms is one of my favorite chapters in the bible because they are all so relatable. So many verses talk about the dark times. But, they always show the light that comes after the darkness.
So, I put together some of my favorite psalms for strength in difficult times. May these words help you to draw closer to Jesus during your struggles and use His strength to get you through.
1. Psalm 73:26 NIV
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
2. Psalm 27:1 NIV
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?”
Easily the best Psalm for strength and protection! I love the song that goes with this bible verse.
3. Psalm 46:1-3 NIV
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
If you need a Psalm for strength and guidance, you can’t do much better than this one!
4. Psalm 29:11 NIV
“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
Even though it is so simple, it is easily one of the best Psalms for strength and encouragement.
I love how it talks about how God blesses us with His peace.

5. Psalm 31:2-3 NIV
“Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.”
With this Psalm of strength and hope, use it as your prayer to ask God for His strength.

6. Psalm 28:7 NIV
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”
This is another one of my favorite bible verses about strength in hard times. I love the phrase “my heart trusts in Him.”

7. Psalm 9:9-10 NIV
“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
8. Psalm 16:8 NIV
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
I wish I was this strong! It is one of the inspirational bible verses for strength and courage that we need to always have on our mind.

This is one of my favorite Psalms for strength and healing.

I love this scripture for strength! It is so uplifting and encouraging to me.
17. Psalm 27:14 NIV
“Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
18. Psalm 121:1-2 NIV
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
19. Psalm 118:5-9, 14 NIV
“When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place. The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I think this is another one of the most inspirational bible verses of strength in hard times.

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”
21. Psalm 59:16-17 NIV

God is our strength. Don’t forget that!
